Care guide
Care for your alpaca and it will last for years
Alpaca is resilient but likes a gentle touch. This care keeps your pieces soft and in shape.
Step by step
How to care for it
Air it before washing
Alpaca doesn't hold odors easily. Often, airing it in the shade is enough to freshen it up.
Washing
Hand wash in cold water with a mild wool detergent. Don't rub or wring it: soak it, press gently and rinse in cold water.
Large pieces such as blankets can go to a dry cleaner.
Drying
Remove excess water by rolling it in a towel and dry it flat, away from direct sun and heat. Never tumble dry.
Storing
Store it folded, not hung, in a cool, dry place inside a breathable cotton bag. Lavender or cedar sachets help keep moths away.
Pilling and fuzz
Small pills may appear with use, especially where there is friction. It's normal for natural fibers: remove them gently by hand or with a wool comb.
